Strategic Oil and Gas Ltd. - MV2010A0050

Remote sump sites are areas with dimensions roughly 100m x 100m underlain by appropriate clayey materials (see Part 9 for the definition of appropriate clayey materials). Access routes to potential remote sumps, as well as the remote sump sites themselves (shown in Attachment 2), will be semi-cleared (Note 1). Individual sumps with capacity equal to 1 OOOm3 (dimensions roughly 20m x 20m x 3.5m) will be built as required (as-built diagrams of existing remote sump sites are shown in Attachment 3 and serve as a typical example). Drill cuttings (the solid materials, fragments of rock and other materials brought to the surface during the drilling of boreholes) will be deposited according to the conditions summarized in Part 9 of this application. Paramount expects to operate, maintain and restore remote sumps according to Type A Water Licence MV2010L 1-0001 once it is issued. Draft Type A Water Licence MV2010L 1-000, Schedule 3, Part 2 states that, with respect to the location of remote sumps, lithology data to confirm appropriate deposits of clayey soils must be collected from a minimum of three boreholes. To accommodate the aforementioned condition, remote sump locations cannot be confirmed until winter access roads are open, soil samples are collected, and analytical results are available. Should lithology data from none of the sites confirm appropriate deposits of clayey soils, alternative sites will be identified, in conjunction with the Land Use Inspector.
